Services

Services we Offer

Onsite laboratory services are available Monday through Friday.  Our lab technologists and nurses are skilled in phlebotomy and specimen processing.  Both common and specialty testing of blood, urine, and synovial (joint fluid) are processed in the office as ordered by your physician.  Routine tests, such as blood counts (CBC) and electrolytes (metabolic/chemistry panels) are available to your physician within 24 hours of the blood draw.  Other specialized tests may take more time before results are available.  If your insurance plan requires that laboratory testing be performed at a commercial laboratory, you will be given a requisition to take with you and the results will be sent to us by that facility.

X-Ray Services

We are equipped to perform basic X-rays onsite.  MARC has four skilled radiology technicians to make the process of obtaining X-rays convenient and efficient.  Your physician will personally review your X-rays, which aids in making diagnostic and therapeutic decisions.  If your insurance plan requires that X-rays be performed at a designated facility, you will be given a requisition to take with you and the results will be sent to us by that facility.  Specialized imaging such as CT and MRI scans will be performed at an offsite facility.

Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA)

Bone density testing (DEXA) is also offered onsite.  This allows your physician to work with you in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of osteoporosis and other
metabolic bone diseases.  Early detection makes osteoporosis a preventable and treatable disease, minimizing the risk for fractures.

Infusion Services

Patients who require medications that are given through an infusion have the option of receiving this treatment right in our office.  We are happy to offer this specialized service in a comfortable setting for the convenience of our patients.  MARC has one of the busiest practice-based infusion centers in the Kansas City region and has provided infusion services since 1999.  Our specially trained registered nurses provide expert care for the duration of your infusion and are an essential part of our team in providing support and education for our patients.  Our infusion center allows MARC physicians to offer the newest medications available to treat multiple autoimmune diseases and osteoporosis.

Joint Aspiration/Injection Therapy

Joint aspirations (removing fluid from a joint) and injections are performed for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.  These are performed by the physicians, nurse practitioner, and physician assistant.  Corticosteroid injections (“cortisone”) can be given  when appropriate for relief of multiple musculoskeletal problems such as arthritis, tendonitis, or bursitis.  These help reduce inflammation which in turn can reduce stiffness and pain.  For osteoarthritis of the knee, a lubricating substance (viscosupplementation) such as Supartz or Euflexxa can be injected in selected patients.  These injections may provide pain relief for up to 6-12 months if corticosteroid injections are ineffective or contraindicated.
